Due to recent storms in the southern US, the IRS has postponed certain tax filing and tax paying deadlines for most of Florida as well 53 counties in Alabama, 8 in Louisiana and 10 in Mississippi that are designated as "disaster areas". Affected taxpayers include individuals and businesses located in a "disaster area", those whose tax records are located in a "disaster area", and relief workers. For specific information you can consult IR-2004-108 for Bonnie/Charley, IR-2004-115 for Bonnie, Charley and Frances and IR-2004-118 for Ivan. Affected taxpayers may also be able to claim a tax deduction for "casualty losses". Separate relief will be announce shortly for areas of Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Ohio.
Nexus Developments
North Carolina has determined that "extensive use of a taxpayer's trade names, trademarks, merchandise designs and other "marks"" in North Carolina via licensing activities constituted doing business in North Carolina.
